🌙 Preparing for the Bitcoin Moonshot

Welcome back to another edition of Re:crypto where we explain it to you like you're five! 🚀 We've got some actual actionable items for you to take this week because guess what, the Bull Market is back! 🐂 Now, knowing this, we need to start by getting started if you haven’t already done so. As you may all know, the hardest part is getting started. This week, we've got a tutorial for you on downloading a Metamask wallet. I'll also provide you with a few links to videos on how to set up a Ledger wallet and connect it to your Metamask wallet. If I made tutorials for all three of these, this week's letter would be way too long. 📚 I feel they did a better job than I could in the time I wanted to get this info to you, so let's begin. 🚀

A few things before we start! If you've been paying attention, you may have noticed that Bitcoin has been on a tear lately. 📈 If you've been a little jumpy, I understand – that FOMO is real! 😅 I did want to touch on why the price is ripping at the moment. The simple explanation is Bitcoin ETF – currently, the market and all its participants have been anticipating Blackrock’s Bitcoin ETF application getting approved by the SEC. 📈🤞 This would be a huge boon for Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency market. So, it would make sense that everyone wants to get in front of that. But, if you're thinking that when the ETF is approved, then Blackrock is going to start buying up all the Bitcoin that it can, that’s not how it's going to go. 🤔 Because they have already been buying, but they’ve been doing it in a way that they do not move the market. 📉 Why is this important? Because if you are of the thinking that when the ETF gets approved, Bitcoin is going to the moon, I just want to temper your expectations a bit because this may be a "buy the rumor and sell the news" event. 🌕 So, don’t be disappointed if Bitcoin doesn’t blast off into the stratosphere because most of that expected buying has already occurred. What I would expect is an initial spike followed by a selloff but not a deep correction. Now, onto our tutorial: 🛠️

First thing your going to want to go to metamask.io make sure to check the web address if you do a search there are a lot of phishing sites out there. Once your sure you’re on the correct site click on Download

After clicking Download click on Install MetaMask for Chrome you can also download to your phone in the app store but i recommend using the browser extension

After you click on Install MetaMask a new tab will open for the chrome web store. Then click on Add to Chrome (i’m using Brave browser thats why the example says Add to Brave just pretend that says Chrome or what ever browser you are using.)

After you click on add to Chrome a small window will open in your browser click on Add extension

Now you can start to create your wallet you can choose to create a new wallet or import an existing wallet we’ll go over this later. You will also need to check the box and read the user agreement. Then click on Create new wallet

Next screen goes over what data they use to help improve the app and also the Privacy Policy. Click I agree

Now create a strong password and confirm your password. One important thing to point out here is that MetaMask cannot recover you password for you like your amazon account password. So choose something your gonna remember but this is why the next step is crucial.

I recommend watching the video for more information. This step is really important when it comes to any wallet you use. Click on Secure my wallet. You are going to be shown your “secret recovery phrase” this consists of twelve randomly selected words. Your gonna want to write this down and have multiple copies. Your also gonna want to keep it in a safe place. This is how you restore your wallet if you forget your password or lose your device or change device. Not shown here is after you write your 12 words down its going to ask you to verify certain words before continuing.

Once you finish verifying your seed phrase your wallet is created. You can go ahead and click on Got It!

Now this is what your wallet is going to look like in your browser. Under Account this is your wallet address. So if your going to send any coins from an exchange this is the address you input there. Then you see you can add a hardware wallet which i will link a video on how to do this. Notice that your address has (…) whats shown here is not your complete address. To see your complete address you can click on the 3 dots

After you click on the 3 dots you can click on Account details

Now you have your QR code that you can scan and also this is your full address that you can copy to clipboard for easier transfer.

There you have it you now have a Metamask wallet and you can start playing about with any Ethereum app with. I know that we talked about Bitcoin unfortunately Metamask does not support Bitcoin.
